you read. A discussion of improvements will ensue after the draft is read. You are expected to write down any feedback on your own draft.
5. No shows severely limit the chances of others to improve his or her writing. There are not enough spaces to account for multiple people missing
their allotted time. The teacher will leave it at his or her discretion on how these offenses will be handled [no conference=grade lowered]. The
teacher reserves the right to not meet with a student who commits this offense repeatedly.
6. If you have multiple conferences, you must bring all drafts to show your process. It is your responsibility to show you have improved your own
work. If you bring nothing, there is no proof of progress--this will influence your final grade.
Grading
You earn all points if your teacher feels you have drafted your best work. This can happen at your first, second, etc. meeting.
Notes:
1. Complete any revisions/class assignments prior to teacher-student conference.
- For example, if in class you were asked to remove "to be" verbs, I need to see evidence of this revision. You can bring in highlighted copied or a before/after draft. I must see proof that in class revisions/assignments have happened.
- If you have no proof, your meeting can be cancelled.
- Conference times will be posted online. Please check often as sometimes people cancel his or her appointments.
- Week 1-2 of conferences will be for first conferences. Week 3 will be reserved for those meeting with a teacher more than once. I will not conference with a student for the first time in week 3.
- In class conferences [impromptu] will be reserved for those students absent on the day of his or conferences first. Teachers will move onto those who have second meetings as they can. No shows will have last priority.
- If you do not come prepared, I will cancel the meeting.

Grading
You earn all points if your teacher feels you have drafted your best work. This can happen at your first, second, etc. meeting.
- If you have to meet with a teacher multiple times, a draft that is your best work must show proof of growth.
- You completed all in-class assignments/revisions.
- You bring all documentation of how your draft has changed over the course of the process.
- You come prepared to all meetings ready to make your draft better.
- You show up for all meeting times.
- No shows for meetings or wait until last minute to conference/No shows for conferences will result in a reduced final grade
- Not prepared for meetings [you must always have two copies ready for your conference; multiple drafts]
- No proof of progress [you do not bring all your drafts to the meeting] or significant changes did not take place [for example, your teacher may mark for you to make changes to your introduction, but you did not do this].
- Sloppy errors still present [capitalization rules not followed, no end punctuation, frequent misspellings, "to be" verbs]
Notes:
- Advocate for yourself. Tell your teacher HOW your paper is better. Point out to her how you tried to improve your paper. Make this visible to your teacher--your teacher should not have to guess if progress is made.
- Be ready with questions. Come prepared with certain places you want to improve. You will only have 10 minutes, so make the most of all your time. Focus on the areas of your paper you feel are the weakest.
